May: in the diary

One evening, back when it was a little bit colder and darker, we booked a week on the Isle of Skye. Same cottage as last year, but hopefully we'll actually walk out to Neist Point lighthouse this time around. And visit the Fairy Glen near Uig (last year we went to the Glenbrittle Fairy Pools). Skye has a lot of fairy about it.

I'm going to collect and draw some coastal plants and flowers too, as part of a project for the summer. But more about that at a later date...

The thought of that huge drive up there is a bit unnerving but we're stopping off again at Crianlarich, where we'll be sharing a room for the night with Joe. That should be interesting. I suspect he'll be giddy with excitement and probably in need of letting off some steam after such a long journey.

But I'm getting excited. It's three weeks away and I've been looking through some of our 2016 photographs. It's such an inspiring place - mountains, beautiful beaches, silent pine forests and remote little villages. I suspect that, like last time, we won't ever want to leave that little crofter's cottage with it's steep garden and views across the sea...
